I would describe my style as relaxed, artistic, and organic. My goal is to capture you and your incredible family in a natural, documentary style, while incorporating the beautiful landscapes of our island. I am not necessarily trying to get that one “perfect” shot of everyone looking at the camera and smiling. Those can feel stiff, forced, and insincere. In my experience, that’s not real life and that’s the exact opposite of what I want to capture. Also, hoping the kids will be in the mood to look and smile on command can feel like a lot of pressure and that just causes stress. Instead, I want to capture your family as they interact in a more natural style. I want to capture genuine memories that you can reflect back on and feel the emotion just from looking at an image. I truly feel a connection to the subjects in my images and I hope your family will allow me into your world, even for a short time, in order to document that connection with you all, as well.

I want my shoot with you and your family to be fun! As a parent, I know there’s so much pressure to make sure everything is perfect, but the reality is that life isn’t perfect and we often forget that there’s beauty in that! I want you to relax during our time together and I want to capture the best parts of your family. Kids’ behavior isn’t always perfect, but there’s beauty in that, too! I want to capture the natural beauty of your family because imperfect moments are sometimes more perfect than we give them credit.

[accordion-item title=”Q: HOW LONG DO SESSIONS LAST?“]
Plan on about 60 minutes for your photo session, but session length often depends on the family. I don’t expect your kids to sit and follow directions for hours. I want them to play and have fun and, we’ll shoot for as long as we need to capture the fun!

Weather can be unpredictable everywhere and Hawaii is no exception. We do have the greatest weather on the planet, though, and clouds can often make for more interesting photos than clear blue skies. I will keep an eye on the forecast as our session approaches and we can always move the location if we need. If we do get rained out, I’ll be happy to work with you to find another date that works for everyone.

In addition to shooting families, I love shooting landscapes and nature. What better back drop than Hawaii, one of the most beautiful places on earth! I’m happy to work with you and decide on the best location that captures your family’s style and enhances your personalities.

The best advice I can give you regarding clothing is to make sure you’re confident and comfortable! If you are the type of family that loves to match, then match! If your kids refuse to wear anything but board shorts and slippers, go with that. The more confident you feel, the more relaxed you will be, and the more fun the session will be.

I typically produce between 30-50 edited images from the sessions with my families. I want you to have something you will love and cherish and I know digital files are important to people so you’ll be able to share with family and friends on Facebook and Instagram.
